Agreement / disagreement
The principle of agreement is a basic key to the kingdom of God. God made a “covenant” or “agreement” with man for his salvation. Jesus’s atonement for sin is God’s method to bring man into agreement with himself so he can show his favor toward men. The principle is that the place of agreement is the place of power.
Unbelief causes disagreement and disobedience. Belief brings agreement manifested in obedience. God’s promise is that if we are in agreement with Him and His word, then we can pray and God will hear and answer us. Further, that when any two believers agree on one thing God has promised to answer. (Matthew 18:19)
- Acts 2:1
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place”
- Acts 4:24, 31.
Acts 4:24 “So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them”
“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”
- Acts 12:5
“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church”
- Matthew 18:19
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven”
Agreeing with the scripture, taking God at His word, is agreeing with God. When you pray in agreement with another person and are praying as the scripture enjoins, according to God’s will, you are in agreement with God. Expect Him to answer accordingly.
Disagreement brings division, discord and rebellion. Double mindedness is a product of disagreement, and a double-minded person need not think his prayers will be answered (James1:6-8 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways”.)
The place of agreement is the place of power. This is true in the kingdom of God as well as in the secular world. It applies to marriage, family, and employment relationships.
As you pray, emphasize that you are agreeing together with God and are expecting that He is answering your prayer as you pray.
